We received close to 100 applications for the “Joel S. Pollack Memorial Scholarship” award this year. Each of the students submitted an essay on the topic of ‘Distracted Driving’ a critical issue these days. The writers recognized the problems of widespread texting and other cell phone use while driving and seemed to feel that young drivers were especially guilty of this infraction.

The winner of the 2018 award went to Vinny Pagano of Long Beach High School. He is considering Yale University in the fall.

There were more than 80 applications received for the 2018 “Stephen T. Dooley Community Service” award all of them showing outstanding volunteerism from these graduating young folks during their 4 years of high school.

The winner of this award went to Colin Robinson of Baldwin High School. Colin plans to continue his education at St. John’s University in Queens.

Each winner will have $1,000 from TriCounty deposited in their college account after sending us proof of enrollment. It is to be used for tuition and other education fees.
