Breaking: Big I NY Files Appeal to Reg 187 Ruling

​​Today, Big I New York filed an appeal in our ongoing legal challenge against the New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS) over the first amendment to Regulation 187, which imposes a "best interest" standard for the sale of life insurance and annuities. We continue to believe this regulation is unwarranted, creates substantial compliance burdens, and will harm consumers by making it harder to obtain affordable life insurance coverage. L-Day 2020

Your fellow Big I Tricounty members boarded a van and ‘road-tripped’ up to our State's Capitol for the day to meet with our Senators and Assemblymen & women regarding insurance issues that affect our business and the business of our insureds.  After a brief overview of the day and the discussion points, which we had spoken about on the webinars leading up to the event, “we hit the hill.”  Your board had meetings with 11 legislators in 4 hours.  It certainly was a whirlwind of activity.   We discussed hot topics in the budget that we oppose regarding increased fines to our industry and expansions…
