NYAIP Hikes Max Producer Service Fee, Rates

Insurance producers obtaining coverage from the New York Automobile Insurance Plan (NYAIP) will be able to charge larger service fees next year. The increase in the maximum fee from $65 to $100 takes effect on January 1, 2026.

The New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS) approved NYAIP’s proposed change to Section 21.C of the plan manual on September 4, 2025. Starting next January 1, producers will be able to charge fees up to $100 for all risks except:

  • Commercial autos
  • Private passenger fleets, and
  • These types of vehicles used for business:
    • Self-propelled motor homes/auto homes
    • Campers and travel trailers
    • Dune buggies
    • All-terrain vehicles
    • Antique autos
    • Amphibious autos
    • Motorcycles, motorscooters, motorbikes, trailbikes, and mopeds
    • Snowmobiles
    • Low speed vehicles

DFS also approved NYAIP rate changes for both personal and commercial auto last July. Personal auto rates will increase by an average of 19.2%. Commercial auto rates will increase by an average of 14.4%. Both changes apply to new policies issued on and after October 1, 2026, and policies that renew on and after November 15, 2026.
